24 hrs Ultra Run Covid19
Donation protected
Next Saturday April 25th, I’m going to run solo (and walk) during 24 hrs repeating a loop connecting my house and my workplace in Decatur, GA. Yes, 24 hrs of running non stop! (well, with a lot of stops).
Many of you are probably already rolling your eyes or laughing at the proposal of another one of my idiotic long distance endeavors. But before you declare me a running fool, let me announce that this time I’m actually going to run as many miles as I can in 24 hrs for a really important reason:
Many families and individuals in Atlanta are dealing with food insecurity as a result of our current global health and economic crisis.
There are 2 amazing local organizations doing something about it!
-Concrete Jungle is delivering groceries to 200+ families who are immunocompromised or can’t afford groceries. www.concrete-jungle.org
-Umi Feeds is distributing food and meals to shelterless people and families in need. https://umifeeds.org
The entire proceeds of this running adventure will be donated between these 3 organizations. Visit their websites and social media platforms to learn more about them.
How it works?
I run, you stay home!!
1. Donate any $ amount of your choice; or
2. Pledge a per mile donation based on the total miles I run for added incentive to push me forward. You choose the dollar amount per mile and donate during or after I finish the 24 hr run. For example: $0.50 per mile - I run 60 miles, you donate $30. I run 10 miles, you donate $5. Make me do some good hard running!Since you cant donate per mile on the gofundme site you can just let me know how many miles you want to pledge and donate once I've completed those miles!
Why 24 hrs?
There are so many people who aren’t sleeping well or any at all because they are worried about how to make ends meet. By running through the night and enduring a sleepless day I would like to recognize the emotional and mental impact of this crisis.
Why run between my house and my workplace?
Employment and even the simple act of commuting to a job is a gift during these times and I’m so grateful to be part of the amazing team at Hagen Rosskopf/Bike Law GA.
Like you, the Covid19 crisis has given me a renewed gratitude and appreciation for things I often take for granted: my job, food in the fridge, a roof over my head, good health, time spent with friends and even daily routines like commuting to work. But now it’s time to translate gratitude into action.
Join me on Saturday April 25th, follow my progress on social media/Strava/Life360, consider donating, think of ways you can help folks around you and make a plan to do it. I know we are tired of the quarantine, I know we want this to be over, I know we want life to go back to normal but while we wait, let's help one another.
