Ngata mob, I’m Alkira, a Gunditjmara woman from Ballarat Victoria. On 09/07/2020 I took myself and my nephew to raise our concerns by peacefully standing in on the immediate lockdown of the Flemington flats where families were swarmed with mass police presence and not given the opportunity to even make a run to get essential supplies. Because of this I was imposed with a $1,652 fine, and also had the police contact child protection for having my nephew with me while we peacefully protested. I am a young mum with 4 children under 6, I lost my job due to covid-19, had to relocate due to DV during the first lockdown and am in extreme financial hardship and generously ask for your support to help me pay this fine and support my family.
