Terminus: "Run Against Racism"
Run Against Racism: Charity Challenge and Event
What?
The challenge is to run 1 mile a day for the entire month of July (31 days = 31 miles). On August 1st we will hold The "Run Against Racism" 10k event (there will also be a 5k alternative available). Our goal is to raise money and awareness for causes that address social injustice, racism, and police brutality that disproportionately affects Black people throughout our country.
Where?
Anywhere! Run at home, or conquer the daily challenge by running before, after or during your daily training. The daily goal is simple: run 1 mile! Then on August 1st join us for our 10k event!
How does it work?
* All donations will be handled through the Terminus "Run Against Racism" GoFundMe campaigns. We have opened 3 separate campaigns to cover each of the 3 charities that we have chosen.
* Terminus will create a poster to track your progress throughout the challenge. The poster will contain various boxes to track your pledges, miles, and totals.
* Gym members will pledge a monetary amount per mile completed (example: 1 dollar per mile). This is your "personal pledge". Gym members will be encouraged to also post a "penalty pledge" for the days that they don't complete a mile run.
* We would also encourage members to ask friends, family, and social media networks to pledge per mile ("donor pledge") or participate and donate via the GoFundMe account.
* Every Wednesday we will send out a reminder to submit your donations for the week. Final donations will be collected and wrapped up on Saturday August 1, 2020.
* Terminus has chosen charities from our communities' recommendations (see details below). We suggest selecting 1 charity to represent for the length of our campaigns. Can't choose just one? Divide your contributions amongst the other charities!
* Terminus has pledged a donation match up to $1000.
* On August 1st, Terminus will hold the Run Against Racism 10K (We will have a 5K option). The miles for this event will be included in your pledges (10k= 6miles/ 5k= 3miles). This type of event is preferred as we are still under Covid-19 guidelines. We will be scheduling heats of 10 on the day of the event. This event also lends itself to be inclusive of friends and family members that currently do not attend our gym.
