Mathew Kent Cancer Fund

This August, after a sudden hospitalization, our good friend Mathew Kent was diagnosed with Stage III adenocarcinoma, a type of colon cancer. Mat had surgery to remove a tumour from his colon and, although the depth of his treatment and diagnosis is still unravelling, he is set to begin aggressive chemotherapy later this Fall to combat the cancer, which has also been found in lymph nodes surrounding the tumour. Mat and his wife Kylie recently relocated from Kamloops to Williams Lake, BC at the end of the summer, where Mat had just started a new job. The diagnosis comes at an especially difficult time as Mat currently does not have access to benefits. Our hope with this fundraiser is to support Mat and Kylie during this difficult time, show them our love, and to help cover lost wages and expenses, as well as travel costs for Mat, Kylie, and their families through the course of his treatment. For many of Mat’s family and friends, we face the challenge of wanting to help from afar, and hopefully this fundraiser will be one way that we can accomplish this goal and give this young man, this young couple, and this family the love and support they need!
