24-Hour Dual-Cyclethon for CARA
Help vulnerable children fleeing oppression and fighting in Myanmar to access school and a safe new life. CARA, a UK registered charity (number 1165824), works through One Sky a Thai based charity in rural Thailand supporting communities with non-documented families, providing key services including ensuring children’s access to education and keeping them safe from exploitation.
To raise money for this extraordinary charity, we are going to attempt to complete a 24 hour dual-cyclethon from 7am on 2 November to 7am on 3 November 2024. That means two (stationary, side-by-side) exercise bikes will be cycled non-stop for 24 hours in back-to-back shifts. In 2023, with the extraordinary help of friends, neighbours, and CARA supporters, we managed a SINGLE 24-hour cyclethon, so this time we are doubling the challenge, and the fun!
The money we raised last year directly funded 15 educational grants: that meant 15 more children in school for a year, raising their life opportunities and protecting them from harm. Our target is to raise at least the same amount this time around to keep those children in education and safe from exploitation.

CARA is the UK registered charity that fundraises and sends more than 95% of funds raised to its partner: One Sky Foundation based in Sangkhlaburi, Thailand on the border with Myanmar (Burma). One Sky supports a wide range of social welfare, healthcare and education, programmes including supporting families to enrol their children in free Thai schools & supporting them through dedicated field social workers to complete their education. In 2022 CARA UK was able to support 240 children to attend school who would otherwise be unable to. With cost inflation, the charity faces the prospect of having to reduce its operation in 2025 unless more money is raised.
