24hr Solo Ocean Swim for Special Schools 15 April
Donation protected
2km on the hour, every hour, for 24hrs. World's First swimming challenge in this format. My purpose is to raise awareness of the awesome kids and families of the Special Schools on the Sunshine Coast.
I'm getting way out of my comfort zone for just 24hrs. It's symbolic of the daily struggles and challenges these kids and families face every single day. Many of them live in relative isolation, quietly creating the best life for their children. The Special Schools are a vital part of our community providing a happy, safe, supportive place to nurture the development of these kids. 24hrs of discomfort, fatigue and some fear for me is nothing compared to their daily struggles.
For 15yrs I've been involved in The Island Charity Swim, a 10km ocean swim supporting the Special Schools on the Sunshine Coast. Since 2018 I've created a series of personal endurance challenges to raise more awareness and support for the awesome kids and families of the special schools. Your donations are used by the schools to buy learning equipment, resources and support major projects.
In 2022 Australian TV identity, Rob Brough created a beautiful, moving documentary showing the impact your support makes. I'll send every supporter a link to Rob's movie so you can share with family and friends why we should celebrate these wonderful kids.
Thanks for your support. I'll be starting at Noosa Main Beach at 7am, swimming 1km out then returning to shore. At 8am I'll do the same and repeat right through the night for 24hrs. To be honest I'm pretty scared: physical fatigue, lasting the distance and swimming solo through the night will challenge me.
Please donate, share this story or even consider getting a few mates together and entering the Island Charity Swim - a 10km Ocean Swim on the beautiful Sunshine Coast on 13th May 2023.
