Kidney for Maddie

Hi! My name is Maddie, and I am 17 years old and I am in need of a kidney transplant.  My father has had two kidney transplants. One from his mom and the last of which my mom donated for him. This was about three years ago.  My dad and I have a genetic disease called Alport's syndrome. It normally doesn't affect females as much as males, but not in my case.  (I guess I'm just that that way!) Anyway, I am now at the point where dialysis is getting close. I am hoping to get a transplant before I need dialysis, but time will tell. Medical costs are crazy high and I'm doing this to help with the costs as well as get the word out about organ donation. So many people could be saved if more just registered as organ donors. Luckily, we are born with two kidneys, and we really only need one to live an entirely normal life! So, I guess what I am trying to say is be an organ donor and save a life! Donating life to another is one of the greatest gifts a person can give. I would be forever grateful and thankful to recieve a new kidney. I would love to spread awarness about not only organ donation, but also Kidney Disease as well.
