Moving My Stuff from My Storage Unit from CT to FL

Hello to all my dear friends,

First of all, let me just say that I hate asking for charity, considering I’m a very proud man, but I find myself in a situation that I see no other option. As some of you are aware, I have begun experiencing seizures from 2017 - 2019. Throughout 2017-2018 I was in and out of work and the hospital, went through what little money I had left saved to live on, and in December of 2018 I lost my Job. In May 2019 I had a major seizure where I lost all of my memory, and to this day I still cannot remember anything from the past. REALLY!!! Then I had to move out of my apartment, put the contents into storage and then became homeless for the next year and a half. I slept in my car, stayed a week or two here and there at a friend or relative’s home, then back in my car again. It was like camping in my car. (LOL)

I am living on Social Security Disability then and now and could barely make it through the month. Once I had $17 left in my checking account on the 20th of the month. I don’t get the SSA benefit deposited into my account until the 3rd of the following month. That month, I had to borrow money from my kids to get me through. Or calculating the mileage to my doctor’s appointment and back to see if I had enough gas to make it. One of my doctors actually gave me $20 to buy gas to help me out. Do you believe that?

So, my sister, who lives in Daytona Beach, Florida, had invited me to come down in December 2019 basically because it was getting a little too cold to sleep in my car in CT. I planned on staying for three months, so I took the AmTrak Auto Train so I could have my car while I was down there. Well after several months I decided to stay, for several reasons, and finally get my own apartment, which I did, after being homeless for soooo long. It was not fun being homeless, and I don’t recommend it.

Here is where I need your help. I absolutely have no money to move my remaining things I have in storage to where I am living now in Daytona Beach, Florida. Although I am finally living in my own apartment, I am living with very limited items since most of the things I own are still in the storage unit or with my family in CT.

For the past year I have been sleeping on an air mattress, I have a 3-drawer plastic set of drawers for some of my clothes, the rest of them are either on the floor or hung up. I’ve been wearing the same clothes now for 2 years. As far as furniture, my sister gave me an old kitchen table and chairs, a buffet I use to mount the TV and a toaster oven. My sister’s neighbor gave me some kitchen stuff and 2 night tables. My sister’s friend had given me a futon and loaned me a 55”TV. I bought a sleeper couch and kitchen items. That’s it!! The rest is in storage.

My things have been in there since May 2019. That’s 2 years!!! The articles in the storage unit range from needs/necessary to sentimental/memories to wants/gotta-haves. My bedroom set, office table, office chairs, tools, CD’s, files, musical instruments, etc. Some things are just not replaceable. Some things I just want and can’t afford to buy new.

Again, I struggle monthly so there is no way to save any money for this venture. But if I could get this $300/month monkey off my back, I might be able to make it through the month. The whole expense should be around $5,500. It would mean a lot to me if you can find it in your heart to help me, even a little bit. I would greatly appreciate anything you can give to help me out. Believe it or not, this would really brighten up my day, just to see my stuff again. (LOL)

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! (in advance)

Sincerely Yours,

Phil
