Laurie Smith's Memorial Fund

Hello, everyone. My name is Shaine Smith, Laurie’s son. This year has been so incredibly difficult for my beautiful mother and so hard for me to have to watch. As most of you may know, my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer on February 3, 2016. My beautiful and strong mother is fighting valiantly. Unfortunately, her health has taken a turn for the worst. She is now under hospice care for pain management and to make sure she is as comfortable as possible. At this point, it is only a matter of weeks. Her suffering will soon end and she will transition into a much better place.

I am preemptively setting this memorial fund up to be on standby to help cover all final expenses and to also help with the cost of her final resting place in New Orleans, our home. I want to be able to send my mom off in the best way, so all contributions are greatly appreciated.

As a son, I am in pain, knowing my mom is about to leave me, but I also know where she is heading and that gives me so much joy. I am at peace with what God is doing. He knows what is best. The love and support we have received during this difficult time has been overwhelming, but in the best way. You have no idea what it means to me to see so many people step-up to help my mom. She would definitely have done the same. Please continue to pray for my mom as she begins her transition and also, pray for my strength during this incredibly difficult and dark period in my life. Once everything happens, I will keep you all posted on when/where services will be held.
