25 O'Clock Brewing Co-op Campaign
Donation protected
If you watched our video, and you are trying to decide why you should contribute - the predominant reason is the worker-owned co-op. I was born into a worker-owned co-op of sorts: a family farm. I knew that every effort or extra effort I gave would benefit me and my future family. Growing up with that self-determination was the greatest gift my ancestors bestowed upon me. It was a privilege that took me many years to come to understand, and I nearly squandered it. Now, I have the opportunity, again, with the help of our family farm to expand and share the gift with workers who may not have had the same fortune. However, this time I will be aware, open, and enthusiastic about how our fellow workers have this opportunity.
Our society currently does not value self-determination for all and because of that, empathy for our neighbors is lacking. We have a systemic problem that in part can be solved by cooperative principles. Have you ever watched an Amish barn raising? They go up in a day—google it! The barn is built in a day because the whole community comes together. Everybody does their part, even the children. Everybody who is a part of that community is appreciated and valued. Imagine spending your work week with people who share your struggle, share your hope, share your benefit, and share your dreams.
We ask that you contribute at least $5 to our startup worker-owned cooperative, invite at least 5 other friends who would appreciate and support the cooperative business model, and share this campaign on social media. Help us begin the systemic change needed in our society. And if you live near Urbana, IL, or come visit, have a beer with us and share your story…
