Chantel's Kidney Relief
Donation protected
Introduction
My sister Chantel is a young, vibrant, newly engaged 25 year old who is in renal failure and has been placed on the transplant list for both a kidney and a pancreas. She has always been such a caring and giving person it's time to show her our love and support during this frightening time. My goal is to alleviate the financial burdens that she and her fiancé face with loss wages and allow him the ability to love and support her instead of working more hours to make up the difference.
About Chantel
Chantel is a wonderful, giving person with a huge soft spot for animals. She loves working at vet clinic's where she ended up adopting 4 of the animals who couldn't find homes or were abandoned. She's unbelievably funny, witty and if you hang around her for more than 5 minutes she'll absorb you into a deep conversation. Even in her time of need she plays off her illness and health, hiding her own fears to not worry or bother others. She is truly a gift to those around her.
Overview of her health
- Chantel has had diabetes since the age of 3, complications regarding her diabetes has left her body weak and much of her body refusing to work at optimal level.
- She has neuropathy in her legs and feet which leave her with the sensation of constantly having pins and needles.
- Her vision is deteriorating and has received her second preventative surgery to stop her eyes from forming cataracts
- She has had a port surgically placed in her stomach last week for home care dialysis that needs 6 weeks to heal.
- Unfortunately her kidney function dropped to 3% following surgery and 4 days later received another surgery for a central line to her heart for immediate hemo dialysis. (3x a week for 4hrs)
- She is currently healing from both surgeries at home and waiting for all her donors to go through the living donor registration package. (3 months)
- Once a kidney match is found she will then need 3 months to fully recover from transplant surgery.
How donations will be used
The funds for the donations will be used to help off set her monthly medical and living expenses that government assistant won't be able to cover. If funds exceed expectations we will be getting a new blood monitor that is placed into the skin for consistent blood readings (cost is about $200 a month) and a nutritionist so she may also begin healing her body with different nutritional intake.
What you can do
The love and support she has received so far is heart warming and gives her a new found hope. Please let her know how much you care for her with a message or a donation through this page.
If you are interested in becoming a living donor for Chantel you can call (780) [phone redacted]. (sometimes it is very hard to get ahold of someone, please don't give up easily)
Also please consider changing your donor status on your Drivers license. Only 8% percent of Albertans are registered donors. You can change this when getting a new drivers license or online. https://myhealth.alberta.ca/Pages/OTDRHome.aspx
Thank you from our family!
