Hope and Prayers for Chris Nawrath

UPDATE from Jeanette 9/5/16
Chris completed 12 weeks of chemotherapy, after which his doctors ran scans of his liver and colon. The spots on the liver showed a lot of improvement, but not the tumor in the colon.

Yet the original plan remained: Wait a few weeks for his body to recover from the chemo, then remove the original tumor and the liver spots at the same time, laproscopically.

But soon after, Chris needed an Emergency Room visit. Chris' body and immune system were still too weak for the surgery, so he underwent a procedure to buy more time.

Chris' surgery, which was already more high-risk than most of its kind, would now be more so. His team of doctors decided the liver surgery should wait.

Then, this Sunday was Emergency Room visit #2. Just days before the scheduled surgery, Chris was admitted again. The surgery had to be done sooner, under less-than-favorable conditions.

And it was successful! There were complications, though. Chris will have to wait a little longer for the liver surgery, and then recover from that before resuming chemotherapy.

Chris sends his thanks to everybody for all their support and prayers.

Chris is 38 years old, strong, and full of life. But when a routine physical exam recently sent Chris to the Emergency Room, our world --Chris and all of us who love him-- was turned upside down; Chris has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer, having spread to his liver. Chris is the sole provider for his family ever since his wife, Jeanette, was forced out of work and onto permanent Disability due to a serious mental health issues, Bipolar Disorder and OCD.  Chris & Jeanette were already struggling to keep their heads above water because of her medical expenses, and will now have new overwhelming medical costs.

A star shines. It freely gives off warmth and illuminates the dark. Yet, at times, even the brightest stars become subdued by stormy skies. There's a "star" who's beaming with love. He's a devoted husband, grateful son, loyal brother, beloved uncle to eleven nieces & nephews, a selfless friend, and a respected teacher who has dedicated his career to teaching in a private school for children with special needs.

Chris, usually the light and warmth of others' lives, is now being shrouded with storm clouds. We have the power to clear away those clouds for the man who always cleared the sky for others; Clouds which subdue Chris' ceaseless love, abounding life, and contagious laughter. Please consider joining us as we support Chris during this fight. Each one of us --every star-- that comes together for Chris illuminates the night sky for the whole world.
