Hello,
My name is Trey Padgett. I am 33 years old. The last week of April, 2016, I suffered a moderate heart attack. I had no health insurance at the time. I began to experience savvier pain in my chest that would go away with drinking water and Pepto-Bismol. I thought it was extreme heartburn or esophageal spasms. I could fall asleep on que for years and I have been recently falling asleep while doing just about anything. I was waiting for my insurance to kick in. Unfortunately, my body could not wait. After three days of the pain, I finally went to the hospital. They thought the same thing, until they drew blood.
My cardiac enzymes, troponin which is normally .01-.08, were 36.8. They admitted me immediately. I was scheduled for a heart catheter the next morning. When they performed this procedure, they discovered that my RCA (Right Coronary Artery) was 95% blocked. This was from my unhealthy diet, smoking and drinking like I did. They put 3 stints in that one artery. I was discharged the following day. My meds cost me over $150.00 a month. I currently have to see the doctor every week to monitor my progress and every week, we make changes to my prescriptions. The bills are stacking up, and it has become overwhelming for me. I have not had a drop to drink or a cigarette since this has happened, nor do I want one. I have also lost 25 pounds. I am on the track of a long healthy life change, and would like to put this behind me.
I have been working on fixing my credit for years, and I do not want this to hurt what I have fixed. The hospital will not keep the bill for $10 or even $100 a month. They stated that they will send it to collections, which in return will show up on my credit. Please help. If you don’t want to give, please share.
Thank you,
Trey Padgett
