Bruce’s Story
Marine Veteran, Bruce was diagnosed with leukemia 6 years ago and was prescribed meds to manage the disease while waiting for a donor match for the transplant. After 5 long years of ups and downs a donor was found and the transplant was completed May 2015. Unfortunately Bruce never fully recovered after the transplant and had several setbacks following. In and out of the hospital numerous times with kidney failure, congestive heart failure and the list goes on. As you can imagine, the medical cost is astronomical even with the health coverage insurance. Through the past year, Bruce’s wife was by his side and took care of him every step of the way; however her sole income is not enough to put a dent in the medical cost that continued to grow. Through the past year, Bruce remained positive and made the best of a not so good situation; however he lost the battle on May 19, 2016. Let’s help this family relieve some of the financial burden as a result of a terrible disease that effects so many.
