Cure for Helen

Hi there, i'm Alana! My mum and bestfriend, Helen Andrews, is 62 years old and currently going through her 3rd round of metastatic breast cancer.

Here's her story from the beginning: In 2011 my mum was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. We took action immediately and had a mastectomy plus all the lymph nodes under her arm removed. She then went through a course of chemotheraphy, every week for 5 months, followed by 6 weeks of radiation. She got the all clear by the commencement of treatment.

All her scans were clear up until March 2015 when she went for her annual scans. The CT-scan showed what we dreaded the most. A reoccurrence of cancer, this time it had planted itself in the lymph nodes in the chest wall. This was a non operable case as the location was in the soft tissues close to the main ventricles and vital organs. The disection of the lymph nodes meant the surgeon had to break the ribs to get to the location of mitosis and that just wasn't an option. The oncologists informed us the effected lymph nodes were too big to treat with radiation. The next best thing to do was to shrink the lymph nodes with another course of the strongest chemotherapy, once every 3 weeks. We were ecstatic to find that the chemo had completely diminished the malignant lymph nodes after the 4th sequence of chemo. To completely kill the cancer, the oncologists followed through with the original plan of radiation everyday for a month, which once again, was a grueling ordeal of visiting the hospital daily. When mum got the all clear she couldn't have been any happier that she had defeated cancer once again! She continued her strict diet of no sugar, no carbohydrates, (with the exception of a single glass of red wine here and there with friends) drinking her green juices every morning (.. with raw broccoli might i add), eating mostly raw salads and running around helping other people like the selfless woman she is. Mum got back to work immediately to try get back on track with bills which i, being 17 at the time, working as much as i could (plus trying to maintain a teenage life as normal as possible), just couldn't cover the cost of basic living.

We don't possibly know how or why the third diagnosis became a reality but i don't think i have ever experienced so much emotion but shock at the same time. I was in the room but felt completely depersonalized, watching it all unfold infront of me, mum chanting "No, no, no, no!" and the oncologists lips moving but no sound emanating. My ears were ringing, my heart was pounding in my throat and it felt like my airways had completely abandoned me. It felt like each second that passed my heart shattered more and more and as my brain started to make sense of everything, it dawned on me, it's all happening again..

I don't even want to know what the hell was going through mums brain but i can tell you, i swear nothing, absolutely nothing, hurts more than seeing your mum cry, let a lone, being informed for the third time that their life is at stake.

That day we were briefed that mums cancer had metastisized and made it's placement as a solitary lesion in the liver as another secondary breast cancer. Soon after we followed through with a PET scan to see if the cancer had spread anywhere else. This showed that the cancer was back in the chest wall where we thought it perished and also around the envelope of the lungs.

The exact feeling of helplessness has never hit me when it comes to my mum. I know there are things that can be done. I have seen it, we have educated ourselves and now we need to take it into our own hands. My mum almost lost her life bringing me and my sister into this world and now is the time i am giving back. That means i will do absolutely everything and to have the best possible outcome, i need your help.

After 2 attempts at chemo/radiation, it is clear that it's not getting to the root of the problem. We have no choice but to seek hollistic treatment and the cost is quite daunting. Mum will need to travel interstate every few weeks for treatment because the treatment we need is non existent where we live. The treatment includes hyperthermia, hyperbaric therapy and IV injections. We are unsure of the exact cost at the moment because everything is still up in the air though we are bracing ourselves as all the treatment is only available through the private health system and we have never been financially well off enough to have private health cover. There are also smaller household costs that we just can't keep up with. Mum is on a strict diet, eating as healthy as possible and completely organic to eliminate all toxins, but it's not cheap!

As mum is a carer for my grandma and a single mum she is only allowed to work a few hours a week (and i am trying to eliminate all her stress, which means her working is out of the equation) and it just doesn't suffice for the treatment she needs. I am currently the only income for my family and i'm just 18 years old and have to care for mum and my grandmother. We haven't started treatment yet because we just don't have enough funds and we need to start as soon as it's possible! If you can spare a few dollars here and there, or just share this with your friends, it would be so genuinely appreciated by us! If we can raise enough money, it could be mums greatest help to grant her a 3rd chance at life.

It's a cheap price to pay to potentially save someone's life!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart in advance!!! ❤❤❤

Mum is a true believer that if hollistic and medical combine, there is a cure for cancer. If this treatment is successful, we intend to raise greater awareness to hollistic treatments with my mum as living proof!!!
