Chasing my Worldcup Dream in 2016
Donation protected
My name is Farnaz Esmaeilzadeh, and I am a competitive rock climber. I’ve been climbing for 13 years, and have represented Iran in international competitions for the past ten years.
I am originally from Iran and I live and train in Victoria, Canada.
I love all types of climbing, and am proud to be Iran’s national champion for women’s speed climbing, a title I have held for nine years now. I also hold the Iranian speed climbing record, and have for 7 years now. Other achievements include: Asian Champion; world ranking of 6th (2013 world cup); world ranking of 7th (2015); and second place at the Canadian championships in 2016.
As a female climber, I appreciate that there are some challenges that I face that aren’t the same as men. You can help me overcome these challenges, and compete in more world cups this season, by donating to my trips. Sadly, funding is hard to come by for many climbers, and this is very true for me as well. Most funding comes from family and friends, and people like you. I’ve also been lucky to have support from the Boulders Climbing gym, in British Columbia, Canada.
In particular, I am seeking funds to compete at World Cups in Chamonix (France) in July, Villars (Switzerland) in July, and Arco (Italy) in August. These funds will be used to cover travel and registration costs associated to these competitions.
I know that the professional life of a competitive climber doesn’t last forever, and I really want to do my best with the time I have left to compete. Your support s absolutely crucial. I am very happy to recognize the support I receive through various channels, including my website (coming soon), social media, and interviews.
Thanks in advance! Your good will and good intentions are very much appreciated.
