I started working at the grassroots level for Senator Sanders in the summer of 2015.
I founded Texans for Bernie Sanders Outreach: a group committed to learning how to talk to apathetic conservative and evangelical voters about Sen. Sanders’ platform.
I organized petitioning and tabling at Lady Bird Lake and other Austin events in conjunction with Texans for Bernie Sanders.
During the early months of the primary, I was a volunteer with the Sanders campaign and organized training events and rallies.
I was offered a position with the campaign in January as the Austin Field Director and Organizer. I gladly dropped half of my classes, and cut my work hours to dedicate my time to insuring a win in Travis county.
Beyond my work with the Sanders campaign, I work with Planned Parenthood as a member of the Austin Leadership and Advocacy Council as well as Planned Parenthood's Legislative Action committee as an advocate for reproductive justice and women's rights.
I am a member of the subcommittee on transportation for the Committee for Quality of Life for College Students with the Austin City Council. While on this committee I have worked diligently to write recommendations to improve the availability as well as the efficiency of public transportation for students, with a focus on low income students.
As a member of the League of Women Voters, I volunteer as a deputy voter registrar to guarantee the opportunity to vote to as many folks as possible.
I am an active member of the Austin Democratic Socialists, a group that supports progressive causes spanning environmental, social, and economic issues.
I am active in the fight to reform our campaign finance system and overturn Citizens United with Democracy Spring and Democracy Awakening. I traveled to Washington D.C. to participate in rallies, marches and demonstrations with Democracy Awakening and continue to organize in Austin against corporate money in local politics.
I am devoted to fighting for equality and democracy, the cornerstones of American ideals.
I now need enough money to make it to July to the national convention. The hotel alone will be 540.00 a night plus taxes. I would prefer to work to pay my way, but I don't see any way to save this amount of money in such a short amount of time. I have lived and breathed this campaign, my goal is to make it to the finish line! Any support would be appreciated!
