Rutgers Law US-Mexico Border Trip
Donation protected
The Rutgers Immigrant Rights Clinic is bringing law students to the US-Mexico border in partnership with the non-profit organization Espacio Migrante, a binational community organization based in Tijuana, Mexico! The Clinic, including two attorneys, two fellows, and six law students, will spend a week in Tijuana, providing assistance to migrants at the border.
Law students are fundraising for the trip, which is set to take place in May 2022. Initially, this trip was scheduled for March 2020 but was canceled due to the onset of the global COVID-19 pandemic. This Clinic-sponsored trip will provide students with practical and legal experience in supporting migrants, refugees and asylum seekers from across the world, including Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa. With many migrants being denied entry to the United States due to the US’s remain in Mexico policy or Title 42, this trip will provide students with hands-on experience disseminating critical information to vulnerable populations. Given the more than 82 million refugees and displaced people worldwide, this experience will equip law students with valuable skills and resources needed to address this growing crisis.
With your support and generosity, we hope to raise enough funds to ensure that this in-depth service opportunity and experience is available each year to more students. Please consider donating to support this trip and many more to follow.
