Hi Everyone ! Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Ayomide and I are raising funds to send to families of victims who have been victimized by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARs ) and now reorganized as Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT).
Currently, there are multiple protests happening around Nigeria and other parts of the world against these groups who are notoriously known for harassing and persecuting Nigerian youths without just cause. The protests in itself arose due to the frustration felt by many Nigerian youths who have constantly been victimized by the same law enforcement who should be protecting us. In the wake of the protests, there have been many victims of brutality from the law enforcement organizations and many young Nigerians have been injured or killed, in addition to those who have previously been killed or injured during SARs normal operation.
While financial aid cannot bring back these people, we feel like the families of these victims deserve to be compensated for their loss. To prevent duplicative efforts, Ayomide and I have contacted grass roots organizations and individuals seeking to raise money for these victim families in Nigeria and we will be transferring 100% of those funds raised to these groups who in turn will distribute to the families.
For complete transparency, we’ll also be sharing screenshots within this fundraiser to show how the funds have been transferred and allocated to the families. The last thing we want is a misuse of your hard earned money.
While donating is a worthy action, we are cognizant that not everyone might have the capacity to do so, as such, we encourage you to share the fundraiser with as many people as you can and to also share images and videos to increase the visibility of the protests on your social media platforms. If you can, we’d also like to encourage you to safely protest physically because there is power in numbers.
We’d also like to thank everyone who has been out in the forefront of these protests and those who have been working behind the scenes to assist the protesters, we see you and we appreciate you. This is the first step towards making our country the great nation it was for our parents and great grand parents, for our generation and those generations to come after us.
