26.2 miles for Birthright of Columbia
Donation protected
I am a long-time runner who loves a good marathon. But, while it is an investment in a long future with my children and, eventually, grandchildren and has created a way for my family to bond, it still feels a little selfish sometimes. So, I was brainstorming about how I could make my running have a little more purpose for others.
I started thinking about how it has become apparent to me that so many people are unaware of the services of Birthright. So many times, people have said there is nowhere for women to go when pregnant and alone with no support. Birthright of Columbia is one of the many organizations that care for women with love when they feel there is nowhere to turn. They offer non-judgemental support, free pregnancy tests, parenting/breastfeeding classes, maternity clothes, baby clothes, diapers, and much more. This organization is fully supported through donations.
This November, I will run the New York City Marathon and dedicate that run to the moms who feel alone, scared, and need support. In addition, I want to bring awareness to this organization to raise money to help support their good work. There is a suggested donation of $26.20; however, you can give as little or as much as you would like!
Donations will go directly to Birthright of Columbia to serve women and babies in the community. Thank you for supporting women and children in our community!
