Desire Academy-fund to save academy in covid times

Desire Academy Football Club was established in 2015 by former Boston University Captain and Major League Soccer (Houston Dynamo) player, Sammy Appiah and Evans Frimpong of University of Delaware , CAA player of the 2012, former player for Tampa bay rowdies, Ft Lauderdale strikers, OKC energy, PRFC and currently with Detroit city football club in NISA. with the overall aim of helping young players in deprived areas of Obuasi Ghana to reach their potential and chase their dreams of becoming a professional athlete in Football. The Academy helps train, groom and mentor young athletes, on and off the field, through educational and football programs which go hand in hand to help support them with developing their lives either through football (professional level) or through academic scholarships around the Globe. The values of Desire Academy is made up of seven core values: Respect - Humility - Positive Competitiveness - Hard Work - Dedication - Responsibility - Punctuality! Desire Academy Football Club is made up of volunteer coaches, admin staff and other helpers who offer their free time to help support the dreams of our young athletes in the village. Most of our players live in deprived homes and struggle to afford daily meals, let alone getting to practice. Despite these obstacles, these players show great commitment, walking up to 5 miles to get to practice, and refuse to give up on their dreams of bettering themselves. With the help of mini bus and few works on practice fields/infrastructure for kids that stay in the DESIRE club facilities, we are able to further support our players and families with transportation and take the pressure of living in village and not having same access as the city boy to enjoy the game and feel happy doing it. With the mini bus we can convey players living far from facilities to and from practices and games, and it will also allow us to transport the team to away matches, higher league opposition and bigger tournaments with more exposure to scouts and coaches from around the world. This is important to ensure we can keep supporting our young players to chase their dreams and never give up on creating a better life for themselves and their families.
