Michael and Osher Vaknin

Michael and Osher Vaknin, the unforgettable 35-year-old identical twin brothers, were tragically murdered at the Nova music festival on October 7, an event they had helped organize. The brothers, originally from Jerusalem, were well-known figures in the Israeli trance music scene. They not only gave opportunities to young artists but also brought joy to thousands of people through their vibrant parties filled with light and energy. Michael and Osher were more than just producers – they were the heart and soul of the community, creating magical and inspiring moments of happiness.

Over 15 years ago, they founded and ran one of the best Psytrance production companies in Israel, "Mushroom Project." Their musical talent and vision sparked a new wave of parties across the country, earning them a dedicated fan base that followed them on every adventure.

A year and a half ago, Michael and his childhood friend, Elkana Bohbot (an underground party producer), began organizing the Ashrome stage at the Nova festival. They spent a year and a half planning, designing the stage, and ensuring everything would be perfect for the event – countless sleepless nights, travel, and coordination to bring their vision to life.

At 8:00 p.m. on the night of the festival, the opening ceremony began. Thousands had gathered, and the Ashrome stage opened, attracting a diverse crowd eager to experience the magic of the Nova festival. As the night unfolded, a rocket was fired into the sky, sparking chaos. In the midst of the confusion, while everyone else scrambled for safety, Michael and Osher stayed behind to protect the crowd. They smuggled people into cars, helped others to safety, and never once thought of running away. They didn't think of themselves or the children they had left at home – their sole focus was getting their audience to safety.

Sadly, Michael and Osher were murdered while trying to save others. Elkana, their partner, was kidnapped and taken to Gaza, where he remains to this day.

Michael and Osher were like big brothers to me, and their loss is devastating. A year after this tragic event, we are working to raise funds for a Torah scroll in their memory, a meaningful gesture to honor their legacy. We would be deeply grateful for any contributions that can help us achieve this.
