Give Hong The Best Christmas Gift

Hey everybody. If you know Hong, you know how special a man he is. We are trying to make this years christmas the best of his life. He can’t go see his only grandson because of covid and we want him to take his family on an amazing vacation or do something special to acknowledge how awesome he is. If you don’t know Hong - know that the hardship and extreme emotional and physical labor he went through to be the perfect man he is today. He was a Lieutenant in the Vietnam war and watched hundreds of his best childhood friends die on the front line. He couldn’t leave the war for his own wedding and had to have his sister stand in for him for necessary bows and traditions. After the war, he was captured and taken to a Russian concentration camp for three years. At this camp each man received one can of food for a span of four days, hundreds starved and died, others ate rats and squirrels to survive. They were abused and watched their camp mates die every day. When he got released from the camp he was 110 pounds and had insane PTSD. When he returned to his wife they had their only child, a daughter. When she was ten months old Hong built a wooden boat and took his whole family from Vietnam to Thailand because people in the Viatnamese government were after him for fighting against his country. His family and him boated 500 miles for seven days and nights straight. They went through through storms tens of feet taller than their boat. Once they arrived In Thailand, American military came to get them and brought them to the Philippines where they lived in a refugee camp for three months. Finally, the military brought them to America in 1981 and he and his wife have been here since. He works so hard to make every student and faculties lives at episcopal so much easier.
