Murphy's Medical Treatment

Donation protected
I'm a person with a dream that I've envisioned for 46 years and was finally fulfilled on May 13, 2014 when Murphy was born. This young horse is a beloved member of our family. As a young girl, I dreamed of having a blonde, brown-eyed horse to match my hair and eyes. Murphy is the embodiment of that dream. She's a golden Palomino Quarter Horse. She was born on our farm and was dearly loved 11 months before we even knew what she would look like. Her disposition is sweet and innocent. She walks up to strangers and wants to interact with them. Her trusting brown eyes look out on her wonderful world. Even during her pain, she is a gentle girl who trusts those caring for her.

Murphy, our yearling filly, has a septic hock joint. She became lame on Dec. 23 and on Dec. 30 had surgery under general anesthesia to try to remove the infection that had invaded her body. Our local vet provided the initial treatment, but Murphy's condition warranted trailering her 2.5 hours away to an equine medical facility for surgery. This is our only chance to save her.

Her medical bills have escalated quickly. This morning, we are at $5500 and today's treatment will be $750. I've managed to figure out I can go up to $8000 before I have to stop treatment. The vet tells me that after today, she expects daily care and treatment to be $400 per day.

The vets are treating the bacteria and infection agressively, but it's a battle of time. If we can keep her under their care for a few more days, the chances of saving her are greater. Another $2000 will give her 5 more days in the vet's care. She isn't ready to cross the rainbow bridge yet.

If you had the opportunity to meet Murphy and feel her breath on your hand as she greated you with soft brown eyes, you would fall in love with her. She is not just another horse. She has special qualities that should be preserved and passed on.

I would greatly appreciate your help with this financial burden. If you can't give money, please say a prayer for this little golden palomino. Please help the dream horse live on.

Thanks so much for reading this.
