Odin’s Surgery Fund
Hello everyone, I’m not someone who would ordinarily reach out and ask for help, but some unfortunate circumstances in the last month (and year) have forced my hand. I know that many of you know Odin very well and many people have already reached out to offer support and love, all of which has been greatly appreciated. Several other people have suggested that I start a Go Fund Me, and while I would rather shoulder this blow myself, that is simply not in the cards this year. If you'd like to know more details, please continue to read below. If you're unable to help, please know that your love and friendship are enough and we appreciate you nonetheless.
Being a musician, the coronavirus has had an extreme impact on my income, as many of you understand all too well. I know that most of my friends are also in the entertainment business and I certainly do not expect any help from those who are struggling. I am self employed but do have a single W2 from last year, so I am forced to collect regular unemployment from that job (which is next to nothing) and therefore do not qualify for supplemental unemployment benefits or PUA. We've been able to use our savings to manage financially up until this point. However, last month, my service dog Odin had to undergo emergency surgery for GVD (bloat). This condition is a death sentence without immediate surgical treatment. He is only four years old, has many years left in him, and being that he is my service dog, he helps give me the ability to live a worthwhile life. He required two surgeries and hospitalization, the cost of which is in excess of $6000 dollars. Unfortunately, this unexpected financial blow came shortly after another unexpected and costly procedure to remove what could have been a cancerous growth from his ear. (We have since heard back that it was benign.)
Odin is so much more than a pet to me, he has become an essential part of my life. I would appreciate any help you could offer, even the smallest contribution would make a huge difference to us in this difficult time. Thank you all!
I would also like to take a moment to thank the many vets and assistants that had a helping hand in bringing my boy home. They were all incredible and kind and I am eternally grateful to them!
