Rape Alarms for Young people

On 3rd November 2020 a video was shared of a young girl on her way to school being saved from abduction following sexual assault. From the video it appears that the attack took place in a residential area. This young girl was lucky enough that there was someone around and someone vigilant enough to notice her distress. How many times have we seen something that looks strange and carried on walking without thinking that person may be just too frozen with fear to speak out. After watching that video it sickened me to my stomach as I felt helpless. I needed to help. No one else should feel like this. The first thought was if she had an alarm I’m sure someone would have looked out of their window, turned around.. something. As much as we should teach our sons and daughters it is not okay to cause harm to anyone. We must also protect them from the evil that refuse to hear those lessons. My plan is to raise enough money to go around schools in London and provide young women (to begin with and eventually all school aged children) with Panic/Rape alarms. With lockdown, shops closed and schools being open, so many people working from home. As awful as it is, the streets have become a predators paradise and children are evidently now more vulnerable than ever. I received a quote, each alarm costs £0.90, the price will fall with the increase in quantity but just as a reference. I want to do this now, while it’s still fresh on everyone’s mind Please do what you can. I can’t promise this will stop anything from happening to anyone else, it may not be the solution, as much as I wish it could be but it’s a start.
