Medical Expenses for Cheryl Wehner

Donation protected
Hi, I am Necia Guidry and I was a high school classmate of Cheryl Gunn Wehner.

Several years ago Cheryl was diagnosed with three cancers in two years. She valiantly battled Breast cancer twice, in between fighting her first Pancreatic cancer battle. Her second Pancreatic cancer diagnosis was in 2014.  All the while she was working full time and raising two great kids as a single mother.

In May 2016 Cheryl received yet another devastating  diagnosis that the Pancreatic cancer from 2014 had spread to her liver. The current prognosis is not good but she was told she might live 1-3 years. She is coming up on her 2 year anniversary of this diagnosis. While we all hope and pray that she will see her grandchildren, the fact remains, it will be an uphill battle.  She will need medical tests that are not fully covered such as regular CT scans and weekly blood work.  She goes to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, working with doctors who are willing to try their hardest to help beat this disease. She has gone through chemotherapy and trial medication that had positive results for 6 months but could not combat the aggressive cancer cells. Cheryl is a warrior and is not going to give up. MD Anderson has accepted her into an immunotherapy trial, which she will be starting as soon as possible.  She will have to move to Houston, Texas due to the requirements of this trial. She is worried about additonal medical costs out of pocket and being able to support herself, her daughter, and the move to Houston.  It's important that she concentrate on treatment and not finances.

I am writing this because Cheryl has given selflessly for many years to others and has fought and won against cancer many times.  She retired from 26 and a half years of civil service working for the Department of Defense. She retired as the Survivor Outreach Services Support Coordinator at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. She worked and gave her time selflessly to the Families of our Fallen Military Members, even after she officially retired. Impacting the lives of those around her for the rest of their lives. Her daughter is medically retired from the Army and is currently her care taker on this long battle for her life.  Her son recently joined the Army and is currently in Advanced Individual Training (AIT) working towards his goal to serve his Country and better his life. I hope that with these funds she can pay medical costs, use it for living expenses, and for the move that will be coming up in the next couple months.

Any donation will help.  I set a goal of $50,000 but  we all know it will take more money than that but anything will be appreciated, if you can help please do!

Cheryl has approved this page and is the only one with access to these funds.  God Bless.

Thank you,
Necia
