Regina Salone Garrett medical expenses

Donation protected
Hi everyone! As some of you know, my mother, Regina Salone Garrett, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in early August. The protocol was to do a full hysterectomy, in hopes to remove all cancer before it could spread. Upon operation, the doctors saw that it was too late. The cancer had already spread, and it is a VERY aggressive cancer at that, causing it to spread rapidly. It was then clear to our family, this is our worst nightmare, as it is terminal cancer. The doctors advised my mother that chemo had a 15 percent chance of helping her, so her and my dad made the joint decision to just enjoy the time she had left, and my mother felt that the chemo would do her body more harm than good in this late stage. In August, upon the diagnosis, my mom “felt” fine....it is now November, only three MONTHS later, and she has been in and out of the ER and had a five day stay at the hospital, because her oxygen levels had dropped SO low, restricting her breathing. The doctors did procedure after procedure to drain her lungs, and upon doing so, the doctors found cancer cells in the fluid. Unfortunately, her lungs continue filling back up, so the doctors put a permanent “port” in her lungs so that her lungs can be drained at home by my father. The hospital would not release her until at home health care was in place, and she had oxygen readily available at home. The decline of my mother has happened SO fast, it’s unbelievable and absolutely gut wrenching to watch. Before continuing and addressing what the money will be used for, I want to give you all just a little back story of my mom. My mom, Regina, is a women of UNRELENTING faith, even in this current situation, she is not angry at God. In fact, I called her during her hospital stay, and asked her how she was. Quite LITERALLY struggling to breathe, she told me that she was just listening to praise and worship music when I called. Listening to music praising God soothes her, and gives her hope. She is VERY involved in her church, leading “small groups” at her house, and doing so gives her SO much joy. My mother’s “love language” is acts of service. ANYONE who knows my mother, will confirm this is true. If someone is in need, my mother is the FIRST to bring meals, go to the persons house to pray with them, start a prayer chain, take whoever is in need to doctors appointments...you name it. Many of you in this community are familiar with Trinity Christian School. My mother started that school when I was four years old, and at the time it was just one grade, kindergarten. She then worked very hard to grow the school, so that parents who were interested in not only providing their kids with a good education, but also wanting to instill Christian faith and values in their kids all the while, had an option to do so. Any time my mom would drive my brother and I to school, she would recite by heart, the full armor of God, and pray that over us EVERY SINGLE DAY. My mother’s faith is UNWAVERING, even now, in this tragic time. The request for the 50,000 is to help with my mother’s medical bills. My parents have very limited insurance, seeing as prior to this, NEITHER of my parents had any pre existing conditions, nor were either of them on medication for anything, they were both healthy individuals...until my mom wasn’t. That being said, the money will go towards her hysterectomy, countless doctors appointments, procedures, tests, medicine, and now, at home care. My father owns a small business, and he runs it alone. He has no employees, it’s just him. He is a used car salesman, so if my dad is not at work, he can’t make money. He has had to take ALOT of time off work to care for my mom, and as many of you know, regardless of the situation, bills still come in. This is a VERY taxing time on my family, both financially AND emotionally. I KNOW times are tough right now for many of us, so for those of you who cannot donate, prayers would be SO appreciated. For those of you who can donate, it would be BEYOND helpful and appreciated, so that my mom can continue to receive her home health care, and also so some of the stress can be alleviated off of my father, as no one can prepare you for something like this. THANK YOU to everyone who has taken the time to read this, and THANK YOU for anyone who can help, and also for any prayers that can be sent our way!!! Sincerely and with much gratitude, Sophia Garrett, Denver Garrett Jr.,Denver Garrett III , and Regina Salone Garrett
