This page has been set up by the family of Ashley Harrison. On Saturday, May 28th, my (sister)Ashley and her fiancé, Garvin Whitmore, were on their way to pick up Ashley's aunt to spend the holiday weekend with the family. While on the west side of Chicago, someone walked up to Ashley's car and fatally shot Garvin. In fear for her life, Ashley fired warning shots into the air to scare the assailant away, then held her fiancé until the police and emergency medical personnel arrived.
As if this event weren't tragic enough, Ashley was arrested and charged with reckless discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Instead of being home to comfort their two children, mourn with her family, and make arrangements to bury the love of her life, Ashley is spending this time alone in a cell. Even the judge at her arraignment said, "sounds like self defense."
Please help us by donating to Ashley's defense fund. While we know we may not be able to raise enough to post her bond, we are hoping to at least raise enough to get Ashley legal counsel willing to fight on her behalf when she goes back to court on June 3rd. PLEASE give as much as you can. Also, if you know of any qualified attorneys in the Chicagoland area who may be willing to defend Ashley, please leave their information in the comments section. Update: Ashley Harrison has been released on house arrest (24 hour surveillance). While we as a family are grateful to have her home to comfort her, the case has not been dropped. On behalf of Ashley and our entire family, thank you for all of the prayers and support thus far, and PLEASE continue to share Ashley's story and give whatever you can to her defense fund. At this time we also ask that you allow Ashley time to grieve and find some peace within this situation. She is very grateful for everything that you guys have done and all the prayers and blessings sent, but we ask that everybody respect her wishes and give her time to accept the loss of her fiance and prepare for the legal battle at hand! God bless you all and again from the bottom of our hearts... Thank you!
