Blaine's Rehabilitation & Therapy

Donation protected
Blaine is a loving, spunky, funny, and handsome 6 year old boy. He just finished Kindergarten and is looking forward to becoming a 1st grade student in the Fall.

In August of 2014, Blaine was ran over by a pickup truck as it backed up into the grass where he was standing. He suffered punctured lungs, several fractured ribs, a fractured shoulder blade, fractured maxillary sinus, a broken collarbone, a huge laceration along his ear, severe scrapes on each side of his face, a hemorrhaging adrenal gland, and traumatic brain injury. He spent 4 nights in the pediatric ICU before being released to continue to heal and recover at home.

Although the life threatening injuries have healed, Blaine continues to struggle daily. He suffers from PTSD, Speech delay, Fine Motor deficiencies, sensory disorder, structural instability in his spine (specifically the C2 vertebrae), and several visual development disorders in addition to Esotropia (commonly referred to as lazy eye). Kindergarten proved to be incredibly difficult for Blaine and he was forced to spend part of the year on 2 hour days while the rest of his class attended full day (6 1/2 hours), because he could not meet the visual and social demands of school.

Blaine currently attends counseling, vision therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and a Chiropractor in an attempt to help him improve and develop the skills he needs to be successful in school. Our insurance will not cover any portion of vision therapy or chiropractic care for Blaine's injuries at all. We are still fighting to receive insurance assistance with OT and Speech Therapy. The Vision Therapy and Chiropractic care alone is $10,600.  Between our out of pocket payments and generous donations from local agencies, we have paid a total of $3,600 leaving a remaining balance of $7,000.

I work a part time job as I would never be able to work full time and meet Blaine's needs and appointments. In addition to my part time job, I also started my own Photography Business in an attempt to make ends meet and provide Blaine with the help that he needs. Any amount of donations would mean the world to our family and a financial burden lifted from our lives. I am determined to ensure that Blaine gets all of the help he needs to live the best quality of life possible... he deserves NOTHING LESS!
