Help Sumaira Recover

Hello friends,

This is Sumaira. She is 24 and was diagnosed with intestinal TB. Sumaira is currently lying in the surgical ward of the government-run DHQ hospital in Abbotabad, Pakistan.

Sumaira comes from a poor family that does not have the money to pay for her medications or food and she is wasting away slowly and painfully, often lying in her own bowel movement. Sumaira's husband has asked the doctors to give her poison and end her life. 

If Sumaira had received treatment in time she would not have had to go through peritonitis (bacterial infection) or undergo an ileostomy procedure which removed her intestines. Due to excessive muscle wasting, ileostomy bag could not be applied on the stoma. She is in terrible pain.

However, her treatment is possible and the prognosis is good but we urgently need to raise funds to save her life. 

We are raising funds to pay for food and an orderly who will keep Sumaira clean and nurse her back to health. Once she has regained enough strength to be transported, we'd like to get Sumaira and her daughter to a better facility run by an NGO so we can help her get her life back on track.

All food, medication and other related expenses will be carefully documented and receipts will be posted on our page here.
