The MILE in Guatemala, for Patricia

Donation protected
Please meet Patricia.

We met Patricia on our school and church painting project in San Lucas Toliman this past December during one of our MILE service trips to Guatemala. Among the dozens of kids we met that day, Patricia stood out because of her boundless positive energy and infectious giggles and smiles. She embraced our group of “gringos” without hesitation, and her loving fearlessness made a lasting impression on each and every one of us at the MILE.

Upon returning to the United States, the MILE established a dialogue with Patricia’s family to explore potential treatment to address her strabismus, or more colloquially, her crossed eyes. Patricia and her family were open to the idea of treating her condition, so the MILE coordinated and paid for Patricia and her family to travel to Guatemala City for multiple doctors visits to properly diagnose and evaluate her condition. We are thrilled to share with you that Patricia has now begun treatment, currently with a series of corrective glasses to help strengthen the muscles in her eyes and in her face.

We are raising funds to support Patricia's continued treatment, as well as to make continued improvements to Patricia's local community.  If we are able to meet our funding goal, we will be able to complete construction on a new classroom building for her school in San Lucas Toliman (new roof, windows, doors, floor and paint) as well as to pay all of Patricia's medical bills.

The photo above was taken in front of the classroom building we painted in San Lucas Toliman in 2015.  We hope to build and paint another one just like it in December.

All of this is being made possible by a powerful group of conscious people who were willing to give their time and share their hearts within our global community. We are the Music Is Love Exchange. Please, join us.

100% of funds raised will be utilized in direct service to Patricia and her community.  The MILE has no overhead, no paid staff, and is run entirely on passion for giving.
