Living out a Dream

Hello, my name is Julie Archer, AKA Jules Verbatim.
I received an invitation from Amy Sigil to perform with UNMATA at Tribal Umrah in Viareggio, Italy in August 2016. Seriously a DREAM come true! This is a huge step for me in my dance career. An opportunity of a lifetime. To receive this invitation left me speechless and with a full heart. To work with such an amazing Director and team is a great honor.
I have been dancing with Amy Sigil since 2001. I have been a member of Verbatim since 2006, a troupe based out of Amy Sigil's Hot Pot Studios in Sacramento, CA.
It all started when I met Amy. Little did I know that moment would help shape me and change my life for ever. Before I knew it, dance became my everything. It was a reason to move my body, to connect with a community of women, to learn how to become a good human being, to experience life, to fight through my anxieties and shyness, also to work through my learning disabilities. It gave me a space to just be. Within these years I have been studying, teaching, learning, sharing, co-directing & directing, creating, preforming, and so much more. I immersed myself whole heartily into this community. Dance has been the only thing constant in my life for almost two decades. The one thing in my life that I have given my all.
Now all I have to do is get there. That's the hardest part for me. I live paycheck to paycheck. Anything extra that is made always goes into dance, whether it's teaching or taking classes, costuming, gigs, and extra rehearsal space. I'm sure most people can relate to this, especially those of you fighting to make art a priority in your life. I am putting my dream out there to the universe. I'm reaching out to my community and hoping for the best. Anything you could give would help me greatly to make this amazing journey happen.
