Fire on West 75th: Displaced Residents

Donation protected
Hello!

If you're here then you've heard about the awful, 3-alarm fire that took 33 units and 138 firefighters to contain -- and has displaced residents at 54 W. 75th Street.

While no resident injuries or fatalities have been reported, our neighbors cannot resume their daily lives in their own apartments. (Two firefighters have non-life-threatening injuries.)

Some residents have pets, and others must stay in a hotel with just the clothes on their backs.

Let's chip in and help, especially since it's Thanksgiving Week.

The funds will be distributed as follows:
There are ten units in the building.
Tenants from three units have waived funds and tenants from two units have asked for only a small amount. The remaining funds (total funds minus those small amounts) will be distributed to five units and the eight tenants living in those units as follows:
Half will be split equally per unit and the other half will be split equally per tenant.
I will receive the funds into my personal account and then will distribute the money via an electronic payment service and via check, as per discussion with each tenant that's already taken place.

A Word from the Organizer
Hi! I'm Lee Uehara.
I'm a neighbor who really wanted to help and didn't want to be just another bystander gawking on the sidewalk. And yes, the tenants are being kept updated and informed of what we're ALL doing here. Once they're situated in their temporary home set-ups, we'll transfer the funds to them.
You may have actually seen me in the nabe already and not known it -- I'm usually walking my awesome (ahem) rescue dog.
And if you reach out with any questions not answered above, I will do my best to reply within 24 hours.
Thank you for helping out, neighbor!
