It is with a very heavy heart that I share with you on November 20, 2020 at 6:35pm our beloved Marlo A. Diaz was granted his golden crown in heaven due to sudden cardiac arrest despite multiple attempts of resuscitation Marlo lost the fight. I his aunt Sara Souza received a devastating unexpected phone call that Marlo had fought for his life at Memorial medical hospital in Modesto Ca. I’ve been in contact with my nephew daily and I have always been there for him. He shares a special place in my heart ❤️ that now feels broken we have so many amazing memories he always knew how to cheer me up. At 3:45 pm the ambulance had picked him up due to him collapsing at sparkle car wash just before he was about to wash his RV. He was yelling out for help as he was slouched over in pain, very caring by-standards saw and tried to help they called 911, and he was rushed to the emergency room resulting in respiratory failure And went into full cardiac arrest all the lifesaving measures were attempted. We are faced with Lasting memories of a hard-working son, loving nephew, and proud loving father. It is so hard to type this as tears fill my eyes.
Here is a short medical history of what Led to this unexpected painful day which feels like a bad dream.
In September Marlo had fought the battle with COVID-19 which landed him in the hospital for three weeks causing damage to his lungs. After having a negative covid test he was finally released, at that time he was not 100% better from COVID-19 he was still fighting a lung infection following the month of October. The pneumonia infection caused by the virus was hard on him but he was determined to get well. The month of October was hard on him. Marlo was in and out of the hospital trying to take things easy and put his health first. he had to have a surgery to help with the infection in his lower right lung, to prevent the buildup or return of fluid. With all that happening he still managed to have a smile on his face and make others laugh. For three months September , October and November Marlo fought the aftermath of COVID-19. The hardest thing in the world was having to make a call to his One and only beloved daughter Marlena Diaz while she is stationed in San Diego in the Navy she was out on a ship the day I had to make a tragedy call. Marlo and his daughter Marlena were in contact most days he was always trying to make her smile daily they shared a inseparable bond and loved each other dearly. He was a proud dad and even more proud that he had a daughter who is in the Navy serving for her country. He would always brag to me and say isn’t she lovely and share the pictures and phone calls they had.
I was also faced with having to inform his mother my sister of the devastating news while she has been recently admitted in a nursing rehab home due to recent diagnosis of MS. Multiple sclerosis and early signs of dementia. Marlo cared for his mother for years they were very close. This has been very hard for her to cope with her own illness and the news of the passing of her son. He would visit her through the window every week since the nursing home was no contact. He’d drop off snacks and any requests she had. He adored his mom. Losing Marlo unexpectedly on November 20, 2020 Right before the most favorable holidays has made it so,so hard. 2020 has been a difficult year for a lot of people, and the loss of our loved one right before Thanksgiving, 3 weeks before his birthday December 11, Christmas and New Year’s made it even worse. This will be a difficult time spiritually and financially and we appreciate any help you can give. As we mourn our loss we are also obliged to the responsibilities that lay ahead. His only child which is his daughter whom Is stationed in San Diego and his mother who is newly in the nursing home needs assistance with the funeral process the funds will be used for Marlos funeral services. Thank you for your support during this heartbreaking situation. Even if you are unable donate financially, forwarding and sharing this to your circle of friends will be greatly appreciated thank you and God bless you. As tears fill my eyes I ask that you please send a prayer to his family and most especially to his mother and daughter who are not near by. We want to bring everyone together to celebrate the life of my beloved nephew.
