Amy's half-marathon to raise money for Baby Box
Donation protected
The amazing Amy Milford-Wood is running a half-marathon to celebrate her birthday and is raising money for Baby Box IOW.
Baby Box IOW is a local community project, helping families on the Isle of Wight who are struggling financially, emotionally and practically with baby, toddler and children's essentials. They provide nappies, baby toiletries and wipes, food, clothes, toys and baby equipment. During Covid they have been incredibly busy delivering items all over the island to families in need.
They rely on monetary donations to purchase the essential items. The need for these items is increasing all the time, because more families are finding life very difficult at the moment.
They are extremely grateful to all the local people, shops and other businesses who donate items and money already.
This fundraiser is to try and spread the word and increase donations during the winter when times are tough.
Here is Amy's story:
'I started running with the Couch to 5k app in April, going from a complete non-runner to now training for a half-marathon! I will be running from Cowes to Sandown on my birthday, the 20th January, come rain or shine to raise money for Baby Box. I have seen the amazing work they do and how they have stepped up to support over a hundred families during 2020. Anything you donate to this brilliant cause will be so well spent by this wonderful team of volunteers. And thinking about that will help me keep going when I feel like I can't run another step! '
