Disabled Man Stranded

Some good friends of ours are recently moving from Tampa, FL to Colorado Springs, CO on a limited budget. Unfortunately within less than 2 hours it turns into a nightmare trip. The Budget rental truck (which was supposed to be brand new) full of everything they own and towing their small suv broke down on the side of i75 at approximately 2pm Wednesday June 1st. It took Budget rental car 5 hours just to get them a tow truck (keep in mind that about 2 hours north of Tampa on i75 it is rural) they had no food, water or restrooms and John has medical issues. 5 hours later when the tow truck gets there they finally get John and Candace off the freeway and they have to find themselved a hotel for the evening. The tow truck company was told by Budget rental to weigh the total weight of the truck and all the belongings - the tow company told John and Candace that they were under 50% of the total towing weight capacity.  Budget rental tells John and Candace that they will not rent them another vehicle and that they need to move their stuff out of the broken rental at their own expense, unfortunately John and Candace cannot move their belongings by themselves due to Johns medical conditions and on top of it Budget is keeping the total $1600. deposit even though John and Candace were only able to use this (supposedly new) truck for less than 2 hours. John and Candace are out at least $1600 for what they already paid Budget (that Budget is refusing to reinburse anything). They'll need at least another $1600 to rent another vehicle from another company and had to fork out money for at least two unexpected nights stay in Florida. Not to mention missing his very important doctors appointment in CO and missing a job interview as well. Last thing - John's medical condition has nothing to do with medical marijuana - his problems cannot be treated by medical marijuana. We just want to make it clear that these funds are for John and Candace to get to CO successfully to start their new life. Thanks to Budget the first 24 hours of John and Candace's three day trip has been unbareable.
