AMAZING NEWS!
I have recently been accepted into CAP21, a Musical Theatre Conservatory in New York City. What is a Conservatory you may ask? A Conservatory is a school and training facility that is specific in the performing arts. Many of you might have heard of Boston Conservatory or AMDA, CAP21 falls under the same category.
CAP21 stands for Collaborative Arts Project 21st Century. It was as studio affiliated with NYU Musical Theatre BFA students, and gained so much popularity and recognition that it recently split from the university to become its own accredited Musical Theatre School. This school now provides a 2-year professional Musical Theatre Training Program with faculty who taught at NYU, been on Broadway, and currently still performing in projects. CAP21 has produced huge alumni's such as Anne Hathaway, Lady GaGa, Mathew Morrison, Kristen Bell, and Adam Jacobs (Aladdin on Broadway) just to name a few.
As you can see being accepted into this program is an amazing achievement for me and I could not be any more thrilled to be attending in the fall. On top of being accepted, I was awarded half the tuition in scholarships; $15,000. However, if something is too good to be true, there’s always a downside. Because this school has recently become independent, it has not been certified yet to accept student loans. I do receive college credit from this training program, but it has not been attached to any loan companies as of yet. With the scholarships split between semesters, I only have to pay $8,000 a semester. I have created this GoFundMe account to ask for YOUR help for fundraising one of my dreams. There is no minimum amount for donating, it can be anything you are capable of sparing, every cent counts!
This money will be used to get through this program's expenses, and any money raised over the amount will go towards living and food expenses. NYC and college in general is not a cheap route to take, as we all know. I believe I will succeed in attending this program and I hope I will succeed with all of YOUR help! I am hoping to raise this money ASAP as I will be moving to NYC in august and starting classes on the 22nd.
This program means so much to me because I believe I have finally found the perfect school, training, and career for me. I just finished my first year at Eastern CT State University and I learnt many new things about musical theatre and myself, but it is not the training or university for me. My dreams have always been too big for many people to fathom, but I know I will reach my dreams with CAP21's training under my belt. Their Musical Theatre program is rigorous, demanding, professional, and exactly what I have been looking for. After this program I will be meeting Casting directors, Broadway stars, and working with professionals in the field to create a smooth transition into the business world of acting.
