Volunteer Nursing in Tanzania
Donation protected
Hi everyone! My name is Caoimhe, and I am a second-year general nursing student at the University of Galway.
As part of my degree, I have been given the opportunity to travel to Tanzania, Africa, as part of an 'International Nursing' module. In June 2024, I will spend 4 weeks in Tanzania, where I will be volunteering in the local hospital in Simanjiro and St. Elisabeth's Hospital in Arusha. I will be involved in medical and surgical care for patients, provide antenatal and postnatal care for women, and help to facilitate vaccination programmes. I will also help in providing health classes in some of the local primary schools run by the Franciscan order.
This trip is fully self-funded, with part of the donations going towards helping to improve health equipment and services in the local community. This is vital for improving patient care and overall conditions at the hospital and within the community. The other part of the donations will go towards helping to fund my trip, such as travel and accommodation.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that will help advance my nursing skills while also providing vital services to those who need it. I am so excited to immerse myself in a place unlike what I am used to and hopefully learn a few words of Swahili!
Any shares or donations are greatly appreciated, and I am so grateful to everyone who can help! Thank you.
