Help Kenny Sherwood Rebuild After Tragic Boat Fire
Kenny Sherwood, a well-known and beloved senior citizen in the East Beach community, lost everything in a devastating boat fire on the night of March 6. Kenny is a hardworking sous chef at Longboards, a local favorite restaurant, where he has dedicated countless hours over the past 7 years. He lived on his boat behind the restaurant at the marina, and it was his only home.
For years, Kenny has been a constant presence in the community, often seen sitting on the top deck of his boat playing guitar to entertain locals and visitors. He is known for his selflessness and kind heart, always helping those in need, and would never hesitate to give the shirt off his back to someone.
Unfortunately, Kenny's boat and all of his belongings were destroyed in the fire. He was fortunate to survive, waking up to the sound of the electrical fire just feet away from his bed. In a panic, he attempted to fight the flames with a fire extinguisher but was unable to save his home or possessions. He escaped with only the clothes on his back, his phone, and his car keys—without even having time to put on shoes. His friends quickly came to his aid, providing him with a change of clothes and a pair of shoes.
Kenny has no family in the area and, without a house on land, the only thing he had left was his boat, which was tragically lost in the fire.
We are asking for your help to support Kenny during this incredibly difficult time. This GoFundMe will assist in getting him the immediate food, clothing, and shelter he needs to make it through the final weeks of winter. It will also help him find a new boat to call home, as that was the place he felt safe and grounded.
Let’s come together as a community to support Kenny as he starts over and rebuilds his life. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a big difference.
Thank you for your generosity!
