El Paso Children Fighting Cancer

Hello,
LCH is a form of cancer and often, but not always, requires treatment with chemotherapy.
LCH most commonly affects the skin and bones but can involve any organ in the body, including lymph nodes, lungs, liver, spleen, bone marrow or brain.
What causes LCH?
The exact cause of LCH in children is unknown. In the past, researchers thought infections or factors in the environment could trigger the disease. Newer research shows that LCH arises when mutations (changes) develop in genes that control how dendritic cells behave.
How common is LCH?
About one out of every 200,000 children develop Langerhans cell histiocytosis each year.
LCH can be found in children from birth through adulthood. It is most often found in children ages 1 to 3.
Delilah's symptoms were so similar to a UTI or dehydration Increased thirst and frequent urgency to urinate. Delilah completed chemo in August 2020. As we all thought this was over after two months I received the worst news ever. During her follow up scans a new lesion appeared. She was now diagnosed with CNSH ( Central Nervous System Histiocytosis) she developed a mass in her left front skull bone. She started a new chemotheraphy November 20,2020 which she developed an allergic reaction to it. We spent more than 2 weeks in the hospital. But as we work through this I want to be able and give to all of our cancer patients families a little bit of joy. I know how it feels to be financialy stressed, tired of sleeping in a sofa bed, feeling the pain of watching your loved one being poked or by just looking at their pain in there eyes. I want to raise money and partner with Candlelighters to give a $100 gift card to each family to use it for anything they might need. We have about 200 families that need assistance. This holiday season is to give!
kids can’t fight cancer alone, your support is greatly appreciated!!
My name is Ida. I am a mother of two wonderful girls. I am also a working mother. My daughter was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer called Langerhans Cell histiocytosis. It all started July 2019 at age 2 1/2. She was diagnosed with LCH in her brain. Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a rare disorder in which the body makes too many dendritic cells. Dendritic cells are a form of histiocyte, or white blood cell. These cells play a role in the body’s immune system. They can be found in the skin, lungs, stomach, bone, eyes and intestines. In LCH, dendritic cells build up, forming tumors and disrupting the normal function of tissues.
