Riley/Peyton Nationals in Philadelphia
Team
Riley/Peyton are National Qualifiers and will be competing in Policy Debate at the
National Catholic Forensics League
2013 Grand National Tournament this May in Philadelphia. AJ Riley and Oliver Peyton are part of the
speech and debate team at John Paul the Great Academy. Both boys are freshmen
and are receiving a great honor to have qualified for the national competition
as freshmen. AJ and Oliver will debate as a team and represent the Diocese of Lafayette
in Philadelphia.
As members of the speech and debate team, AJ and Oliver are developing essential life skills, principles, and values. They are developing the skills needed to speak powerfully and persuasively in front of an audience as well as learn to think critically, explore all sides of an issue and formulate evidence-based, rock-solid points of view. It is through this type of development and skill that the life blood of our democracy will be transformed by a younger generation through policies, guiding public opinion and casting light on injustice and keeping with the founding Christian principles of our country.
Please, consider a small donation to the future! The boys have to fund their own plane tickets, hotel rooms and food cost by April 9th, 2013.
