Help Shelby!

Hello everyone!

My name is Billy and I am a paramedic in Charlotte NC. I have been in EMS for several years and I spend my days taking care of other people. I life with my wife in South Carolina

But enough about me. My wife and I have a 6 year old lab mix rescue. We got her at 4 months old, and she is a true crackhead. She is the definition of a good dog. She loves nothing more than to be with her people. She loves to have the zoomies, and she knows if she sits pretty, she'll get some of whatever food her mom or Gigi is cooking.

When we moved south, we had her registered as an ESA ultimately to make sure she could stay with us no matter where we ended up. The process was easy enough as I had already been diagnosed with anxiety and depression. I never thought she would end up having as much work as she does now though.

Over the past year, I have developed PTSD as a result as a few bad calls in a row. I am currently going through therapy. But even after the worst days at work, coming home and seeing her happy butt wagging, and literally peeing herself with excitement, makes it all better.

A few months ago Shelby started limping. We accredited it with some rough play with my cousins dogs. We got her checked out, and the vet couldn't find anything, so we went on with our lives. A few months later, she started limping again. We went to the vet and she was diagnosed with a tear in her canine cruciate ligament. The vet says that surgery is her best option as if she continues like this, the other one will tear to, and it'll be a while different ball game.

I am a paramedic. I work full time on the ambulance, and part time in an emergency room. My wife is a day care teacher who loves her job and her kids. We live paycheck to paycheck and there's some bills we struggle to pay. But having our dog around makes it all better.

She is six, and other than this tear, she is a healthy dog. The thought of her in pain and not able to live how she is accustom to brings tears to our eyes and tears our hearts apart. We are asking for $4000. We've already but 1000+ into getting this far, and we just want our puppy to live a full happy, healthy life. This money will go to her surgery, and her medicines after the fact that will get her as close as we can get to baseline. Anything helps.

Thank you and God bless!
