“MY PRECIOUS NELIA” Stroke Fund
Donation protected
Nelia and I met through Kiwanis International through a mutual Kiwanis friend. Even though Nelia lived in the Philippines, we just seemed to connect from the beginning, and I invited her to the United States for a visit on the 6th of August 2019. I proposed to her at our district convention, and we got married October 27th 2019. It was a fairytale come true, and a marriage made in Heaven.
Nelia was a retired school teacher and had taught school for 35 years. During that time she managed to get two masters degrees and raised her four children, after she and her husband separated, by herself. All four children went on to earn degrees with honors. Nelia was also a member of her local Catholic Church and has spent her entire life serving others. After our marriage, she brought her enthusiasm and energy to the USA. At the time of her stroke on December 4th 2020 she was also a dedicated member of our First United Methodist Church in Sikeston Mo. On December 4th, Nelia suffered a catastrophic stroke leaving her entire right side paralyzed, loss of speech, and some damage to her comprehension. All of this happened while we were applying for her green card on the path to citizenship. Because she had not been issued a social security number, we have not been able to get insurance for her in the USA. Even though hospitals are trying to work with us, the road ahead is going to include months and possibly years of therapy 24/7 care.
The cost is going to be thousands of dollars per month, on top of all the hospital bills. My savings is practically exhausted. I have no where to turn. My marriage in Heaven is in shambles, and my precious Nelia lies in a hospital bed in St Louis Mo unable to feed herself, unable to communicate, and totally dependent on others for her every need. I have never ever had to ask for help before in my life, but I simply can’t do this by myself. In less than a month we are going to have to start the long road for her rehabilitation. I want My Precious Nelia well again if it’s Gods will! I can’t do this without your help! I need your help as soon as possible! Thank you in advance for your gifts. Garry Warner
