On May 26 at 2 am, families started to hear windows being broken in the building but the attackers left shortly after. Later through out the day around 10:30pm, the second group of attackers started a fire and the families had to be evacuated. The firefighters weren't able to control the fire until the next day after all of their belongings and personal possessions were destroyed.

Dear Donors,

We are asking for your help during these times in which many of us have lost our homes. Many of us are in fear and some of us have unfortunately lost our homes due to violence in our community. This location is 2815 East Lake Street and it contained 8 apartments with 8 different families. The whole building was burned and nothing was left. This money will help anyone who has lost their home and not just this location. It will help anyone who reaches out to REBECA ATENCO ONOFRE. You can contact Rebeca at [email redacted]. Rebeca is a Cristo Rey student and lived at 2815 East Lake street, she was one of the 8 families that lost their home at this location. She has started this because she wants to help all her friends and community.

Victims of fires face tremendous emotional stress and financial costs, and we hope this fund will help alleviate some of the challenges. We are raising funds on the behalf of the 8 affected families to help fund the purchase of clothing, shoes, furniture, bedding, linens, kitchen ware, etc. We know many people are facing hardships and we are extremely grateful for any donation.
