I am Isia Cooper. With my husband Chris, we run a multi-disciplinary farm, using permaculture, biodynamic, organic and dry farming practices with a commitment to growing food that is nourishing for the land and our community in Atlanta, Georgia. We are passionate about food and farming and believe good, clean & fair food should be available for everyone.
Every two years, Slow Food leaders and communities come together for Terra Madre & Salone del Gusto to share the extraordinary diversity of the global movement for good, clean, and fair food for all.
Delegates from over 150 countries are chosen for their ability to represent the breadth of the world’s food traditions, movements, success stories, and their capacity to take new lessons, ideas, and relationships back to challenges still waiting to be met at home.
This year, Slow Food USA has invited us to be U.S. delegates, representing Slow Food Atlanta for this landmark food and farming conference, running September 22-26 in Turin, Italy. This is an incredible opportunity! I am so proud to be able to represent Crack in the Sidewalk Farmlet , our CSA members, Market Shoppers, Chefs, and the USA! Being selected for this historic event out of 1800 plus applications makes this an even more special honor.
Slow Food is paying for my housing, meals, and ground transportation during the event but they do not cover flight tickets, farm labor or other incidentals.
Can you help us by contributing to my travel fund? No amount is too small!
Terra Madre and Salone del Gusto is a powerful and transformative experience. Delegates leave inspired to change the food system through a global consciousness and deeper respect for the diverse, international food movement. They also build an international professional network that lasts a lifetime.
I so appreciate your support in helping me represent our community at this amazing global gathering of food movement leaders: Terra Madre and Salone del Gusto 2016.
With Gratitude,
Isia Cooper
