Cheyleia Gomes was diagnosed with DIPG earlier this year.
While we had a different GoFundMe set up for her, we closed it down thinking we could reopen it when we needed to, but unfortunately we can’t.
Here is a brief update on our DIPG warrior.
From Cheyleia’s mom:
We received a call from NY. We are hoping that the trial will be opening up at the end of this month and If everything goes well, Cheyleia would have to be in NY no later than Jan 3.
We are praying and hoping that it opens up and cheyleia gets into this trial. So in the mean time the paperwork process is being done on our side just to be on the safe side that if it opens up we are ready to go.
As we said before medical isn’t covered and her dad and I will be out of work for a while. Travel isn’t covered nor is housing. If this trial doesn’t open up Cheyleia has been excepted to go to Stanford university, but that trial doesn’t open until April. It is a long time from now so it’s a touch and go situation that we are all so so scared of, but most of all, we remain hopeful and we will keep you updated as more information comes in.
***Update on Cheyleia as of today, 12.15.2020 from her mom***
Cheyleia is in good spirits always up and about and doesn’t like to stay home. She always wants to be out doors she loves spending time with her siblings, but most of all she remains positive through this journey. I had a talk with cheyleia today and I asked her “chey are you scared?” She looked up at me and said, “no mommy are you talking about going to heaven?” I looked at her with my eyes filled up the pain in my heart she said, “mommy don’t cry I’ll be ok I’m not alone mommy I’m not scared to go to heaven I’m reborn again I have my papa up there (my daddy) he will take good care of me my uncles are there and pop nexts door it will be ok mommy.” My heart was screaming I told her cheyleia we are going to win this! She looked up at me and said mommy we are fighting and I’m going to win this! DUH chey always knows how to make me laugh. She walked over to me and hugged me and said “mommy everything is going to be ok” this coming from my 10year old time is so so precious
