Asbestos Disease Awareness

Donation protected
We need your HELP to raise money for the Asbestos Foundation. My family is taking part in the Asbestos Diseases Society Walk for Research and Awareness Rod Triplett Tribute Walk. This year the Rod Triplett Tribute Walk is from Geraldton to Perth. All funds raised will be donated the Asbestos Diseases Society to help other families in need.

The Asbestos Diseases Society Australia Walk also aimed to raise awareness of the killer asbestos fibers being released from the decaying asbestos products that are still in our homes, commercial and public buildings. Yes that right you and your family today could be living in a house with asbestos and not even be aware.

My family lost one of the most important and loved men in our lives. My Dad past away at the aged of 58, My Dad was diagnosed with Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma disease in September 2015 and was given 3-6 months to live this is the worst one possible well at least known at this stage he passed away early February with all his family by his side. We never got to fulfil all his wishes as it all happened so fast. It’s not yet over for my family, since my Dad worked in the building trade with asbestos my Mum, my Sister, my Brother, Myself and other family members have to be regularly tested for the same disease. It only takes one fiber to be in inhaled from my Dad after he had been in contact with the asbestos.

The average latency period, which refers to the period between first exposure to asbestos and development of disease, in the case of mesothelioma, is about 30 years. Asbestos related disease rarely develops earlier than 10 years after first exposure. Asbestos exposure may also increase the risk of developing lung cancer and cancer of the upper respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts in smokers. Mesothelioma is a rare type of cancer. Malignant (cancerous) cells develop in the mesothelium, the protective sac that covers most of the body's internal organs. Mesothelioma generally starts in the outer membrane of the lungs (pleura), but can also occur in the lining of the abdominal cavity (peritoneum).

Check out the Link below Perth researchers believe they are close to developing a vaccine to help shrink cancerous tumours. The trial will initially involve patients with mesothelioma and lung cancer but if successful, could be used to treat almost every type of cancer. Richard Bray is my Dad.  You will get to see how the lung looks and understand how he felt after been diagnosed with mesothelioma.
