Zambia Trip 2023
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Tim and I'm fundraising for the people of Chipulukusu in Zambia!
This August, I will be travelling to Chipulukusu for two weeks with 5 other Irish volunteers. We will be teaching local teachers, in order to help them educate children in the area throughout the year. I will be teaching IT, while others will be teaching financial literacy and teaching skills.
Chipulukusu is, by reputation, Zambia's most deprived, poorest and most dangerous slum. Located on the outskirts of Ndola. 65,000 people live here in mainly mud huts, with no running water, no sewage systems and no refuse collection. However, these people are extremely kind, polite and eager to learn. They battle hunger and diseases on a daily basis. Diseases like Malaria, HIV/AIDS, Cholera, Tuberculosis and Hepatitis, to name a few. Many of these diseases are preventable with basic hygiene products and over-the-counter medicines. The median age of a Zambian is 16.8 years old.
The goal of this fundraising is to help make this education trip happen, as well as funding projects within Chipulukusu. Our team works in association with The Zambian Development Support Foundation (ZDSF) and we believe that education is key to helping Chipulukusu. The team also intends to make great efforts again this year to supply the community with laptops and books to sustain their schools and the Irish-funded community libraries.
I would really appreciate any donation you can offer. I will be paying for my travel costs, so I can ensure that your money will 100% go to those who need it most.
