Alaskan Orthodox Aviation Mission
Donation protected
My name is Stephen Wood, I am a business owner, seminarian at Saint Herman's Seminary in Kodiak Alaska, husband to a native Alaskan, and father to three wonderful little boys. I have vision of being able to continue missionary work in Alaska with aviation as a means of doing that mission work. To date, I have funded out of my own pocket the purchase of first, a Piper Cherokee six and then later upgrading to a Piper Aztec, A twin-engine airplane which adds safety when flying over water. Since I first had the dream of being a missionary pilot I have overcome many hurdles that have come between me and that goal, but by the grace of God, I have been able to leap those hurdles and have been successfully doing aviation mission work for the last four years.
My goal is to be able to raise money to further my training in aviation and to fund mission flights that can't be paid for. I currently am a multi engine private pilot VFR only, which means that I am only able to fly when the weather is decent enough to be able to get from point A to point B visually. My goal is to be able to obtain an instrument rating, (which will greatly increase the safety of flying and increase likelihood of completing missions without weather hold ups) and a commercial pilot rating and eventually a certified flight instructor rating so that I can train other missionary pilots.
Right now, I am extremely limited on time and funding to put towards the mission work and I rely on my business and any other people that are willing to help to fund the aviation. Thank you for any help you are willing to give.
